As chief diversity and corporate social responsibility officer at ADP, I'm proud to announce two fantastic honors from BLACK ENTERPRISE¨ magazine around our diversity efforts. My colleague Debbie Dyson, president of National Account Services and Client Experience at ADP, was recently named one of the magazine's "300 Most Powerful Executives in Corporate America," and ADP was just recognized as one of the "50 Best Companies for Diversity" for the second straight year.
In today's tight labor market, it's vital that organizations develop a culture and execute policies that promote inclusion of every race, gender and ethnicity within their workforces, senior management ranks, corporate boards, and supplier pools. Companies that aren't focused on diversity are severely limiting their access to skilled talent. The best talent out there comes in all shapes, sizes and colors. It's this diverse talent pool that brings diverse perspectives which drives innovation.
Companies also need to reflect the markets they serve and understand the diverse consumer base that buys their products and services. If your workforce doesn't reflect those communities, you'll have a hard time reaching them and understanding what they value most.
As part of ADP's commitment to diversity and inclusion, we sponsor a significant number of programs aimed at advancing key diversity metrics, including increasing the pipeline of ethnically diverse talent, women in technology, hiring more veterans, and providing LGBTQ-friendly environments. Initiatives include multicultural leadership development programs, business resource groups, local engagement and diversity committees, and sponsorship of client seminars that share our best practices with industry partners. In addition, ADP invests in expanding its supplier diversity program and has increased its minority-owned business spend by about 27 percent year-over-year.
