Deadline to File 2017 EEO-1 Report Extended

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently extended the deadline for employers to file their annual EEO-1 reports for the year 2017 until Friday, June 1, 2018. Prior to 2017, EEO-1 reports had been due on September 30 of each calendar year. The EEO-1 reports, prior to 2017, contained employment data on race, ethnicity and gender by job category from any pay period occurring in the months of July through September of the current survey year. Beginning in 2017, the EEO-1 report requires employers to submit the same employment data, but from a payroll period in October, November, or December.
For the 2017 report, the EEOC initially extended the deadline for employers to file until March 31, 2018. The 2017 date originally was moved because of significant changes to the report proposed by the last administration. The proposed changes, which are indefinitely on hold, would have required a dramatic increase in the amount of information to be included in the report.
The portal for employers to file the 2017 report opened in late January of 2018. The portal included some enhancements and modifications from prior years, which may have contributed to the extension of the filing date until June 1, 2018. You can view the EEOC’s announcement at this link:
