Midsized Businesses’ Top Concerns in 2015: Government Regulations, Talent Management, and Employee Engagement

The recently released ADP Midsized Business Owners Study indicates shifting priorities in 2015. In addition to ongoing concerns around the ACA, business owners have turned their focus to other areas of employer regulations and compliance, talent management, and employee engagement.

41 percent
  • Government regulations and the ACA: 41% of the survey participants ranked the volume of government regulations as their top concern, and only one quarter were extremely confident that their organizations understand all of the new ACA regulations.
  • Talent management: Only 15% of the survey participants express complete confidence that they have the right tools in place to find top talent, and only 16% are completely confident about their abilities to keep and grow their best performers.
  • Employee engagement: Only slightly more than half of the survey participants felt they currently have a good, repeatable process to facilitate employee engagement.

The annual study surveyed more than 700 business owners and executives at U.S. companies with 50 to 999 employees.
