My job is to make sure that everyone on my team is as motivated and focused on helping our customers as I am. Client Service is the face of ADP. So not only must we be technically proficient, we must also have extraordinary people skills.

Our number one priority is building strong client relationships, which is why we set the tone for the day by setting goals. Because taking care of our associates is equally important, our daily routine includes coaching sessions and development training. As a believer in the mentoring program, I meet with every person I supervise twice a month to ensure they are ready for their next step up the corporate ladder.

Every day brings new challenges, and ADP relies on me to think on my feet at all times.  Confidence in our service and in all our employees — that’s what makes us excel. It’s the reason we’re constantly raising the bar higher and surpassing expectations. Working here, I feel empowered to make important decisions and to take ownership of my work.  And I can tell you first hand that management values my input and ideas. In fact, a number of my suggestions have been implemented to improve processes and procedures. I also love the camaraderie here.  The people are the best, and everyone is so eager to lend a helping hand. And from the recognitions I have received, I genuinely feel that management and my clients appreciate what I do.

Thanks to ADP’s management development program, I am a better leader and mentor for my team. I started in the ADP mailroom right out of high school and learned most of my skills on the job while working in various departments. From the get-go, I gave 110% every day, and one door opened after another for me. And all along the way, I was very fortunate to have mentors and role models who took a personal interest in my career. Now I have my sights set on being a Director or General Manager. I’m also giving back by mentoring others. My advice: Whatever job or position you’re in, be the absolute best at what you do.

There are intangible advantages, too. We’re a family at ADP, and I’ve made some lifelong friends. As a matter of fact, I met my wife here. I also appreciate the unique work-life balance ADP provides and the flexibility I need in my busy life to handle personal matters. The company also encourages employees to go off site for teambuilding events.

I’m proud to say that ADP is also a great corporate citizen. For example, every year, the company gives us time off, with pay, so we can do volunteer work. A number of us from my department got together, and we helped build a Habitat for Humanity home. I think we built a special bond between us that day, too.  On my off time, I also enjoy going to the beach or camping and fishing with friends and family, as well as playing a little basketball and soccer.
